Trace Fossils (tracks and trails) of Dinosaurs and the Evolution of “Reptilian” Groups
Dr Tony Thulborn specialises in the evolution of dinosaur locomotion and dinosaur footprints and is author of the monographic book "Dinosaur Tracks". With Dr Mary Wade of the Queensland Museum he made the classic study of the Winton Lark Quarry dinosaur footprint site, the only known dinosaur stampede which provided the part of the background for Spielberg’s ‘Jurassic Park’. In addition he has worked on Archaeopteryx (the famous ‘first bird’), plesiosaurs and pliosaurs and, lately with Sue Turner, the world's youngest dicynodont (a mammal-like reptile) from the Early Cretaceous of western Queensland. He found the first dicynodont remains in the Triassic of Queensland where he has also worked on other reptiles including dinosaur precursors. With Sue he also announced the first Carboniferous tetrapod from the Southern Hemisphere
