4WD Vehicles and trailers
The School of Geosciences has a number of vehicles equipted for use in the field - three 4WD diesel Landcruisers, an automatic diesel 2WD Holden Rodeo, an automatic petrol 2WD Holden Rodeo and a Mitsubishi Magna wagon for day trips. There are also two trailers available for hire. Vehicle first aid kits are available on request. Drivers must have completed a 4WD Course before using the vehicles in the field and other remote situations.To book a vehicle, contact Gail O'Toole.

Field Equipment
The School of Geosciences has specialist field equipment such as GPSes, satellite phones, fridges, safety equipment for use by students and staff. Please see Chris Pierson.

Microscopes
The School has a number of high-quality petrological microscopes. Several of these have photographic systems including digital cameras linked to dedicated computers. For more information contact Dr Ian Nicholls.

Sputnik Linux Cluster
MC^2 operates a science faculty VPAC satellite cluster at Monash. VPAC is the Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing - Monash is a member of the partnership. We provide a basic cluster which is binary compatible with one of the VPAC supercomputers and uses the same queueing/scheduling systems and has the same suite of installed packages. The facility serves as a software development platform and can be used for on-site science demonstrations. Further information.
