Research Interests
My current research interests include:
- functional anatomy and evolutionary relationships of archaic toothed mysticetes (baleen whales) from Late Oligocene (24-27 million years ago) marine sediments southwest of Torquay, Victoria, Australia;
- documentation of the fossil record and systematics of marine mammals in Australia;
- description and analysis of Late Miocene-Early Pliocene marine mammal assemblages from Portland, Victoria;
- origins and evolution of baleen whale feeding and auditory mechanisms;
- anatomy and diversity of the current cetacean fauna in Victorian waters and Bass Strait; and
- the anatomy, fossil record, and evolutionary biology of mammals.
