The stratigraphy, volcanology and geochemistry of large volume crystal-rich ignimbrites of the Cerro Galan caldera, NW Argentina

Research Interests

• Combining field observations, stratigraphy and geochronology to better understand the eruptive timings and sequence of large volume ignimbrite eruptions
• The geochemical homogeneity observed in many large silicic systems
• The use of micro-analytical tools such as U-Pb dating of zircon phenocrysts and oxygen isotope analyses of quartz crystals to infer the longevity and pre-eruptive evolution of large volume ignimbrite systems
