Geosciences Victoria Student Industry OrganisationThe Geosciences Victoria Student Industry Organisation is designed to amalgamate all Victorian geoscience students into a single body. GeoViSIO is an umbrella under which students from a wide range of disciplines and universities come together to interact socially and scientifically with each other and with industry. The umbrella comprises a number of smaller student chapters. One branch will represent the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia (PESA). Another will represent the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). We are also affiliated with the AusIMM and the Geological Society of Australia (Victorian Branch). We are currently investigating the possibility of support from a group with an Environmental Focus, so there is something for everyone! So What is the Purpose of Our Organisation? The Chapter aims to present a variety of activities to the student body from which you may benefit greatly in your future career. These may include: - Students Meet Industry nights
- Company / Mine / Oilfield visits
- Symposia
- Excursions (national and international)
- Sport and social activities
We would like to remind you that you do not have to be a economic, petroleum or environmental geologist to become a member. Any student with an interest in the earth sciences will benefit from being a member of GeoViSIO.
