ACRC: Ore Deposits - Geology and Exploration
Research includes field studies, geochemistry, and experimental modelling on a diversity of ore deposit types, and on a variety of scales. Research programs include the architecture of specific ore deposits, the structural control of ore systems at local, regional and continental scales, and the integration of 3-D models and geophysical interpretations of ore systems. Study areas include Alaska, Andes, Canada, China, South Africa, and Australia. Experimental work includes the transport and behaviour of ore-forming metals and elements in hydrothermal fluids. Analytical work includes petrographical, mineralogical, geochemical, fluid inclusion, and stable and radiogenic (including Re-Os) isotopic studies. Future projects include understanding the geodynamic setting and fertility of provinces worldwide for diamonds, orthomagmatic nickel sulphide, sediment-hosted, and orogenic gold deposits.
